Tree rings offer insight into radiation storms
- prvc 4y agoAny implications for radio-carbon dating?
- aaron695 4y agoYes. Probably a better article 3 days ago here - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33340066 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33340066 It's very interesting. It's been known for a while but they are narrowing the possible reasons with this new research. Given it's perhaps a pandemic level of destruction, with 8% chance during a person lifetime and actually fun to research you'd think more would done.
- perihelions 4y agoIt's already accounted for. Radiocarbon dating is calibrated to historical carbon-14 ratios measured from tree rings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiocarbon_dating#Calibration https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiocarbon_dating#Calibration

- MeteorMarc 4y agoIs there a timeline graph of these events somewhere?
- willmadden 4y agoRelated, read the “Adam and Eve Story” by Henry Chan and check out suspicious0bservers.org. The magnetic fields of the earth and sun are linked. I’m worried about the weakening and rapidly shifting poles of earth’s magnetic field. I think it could be a warning of an event with our sun.
- Maursault 4y ago> Tree rings offer insight into radiation storms On this mysterious and obscure power of the tree rings, unless hidden in unpublished drafts, Tolkien did not elaborate.
