- MandieD 4y agoIt’s become less egalitarian over my lifetime. When I was a kid, my working class dad and a few buddies would rent a deer lease each year, doing maintenance work in the summer and fall, then going out over the weekend in season. These deer leases were usually part of a ranch. They lost their last one because the heirs were uninterested in ranching and sold to someone much wealthier in Dallas who wanted it just for hunting. They weren’t able to find a similar situation because ranches were getting bought up by other wealthier hunters.
