I can see why salary transparency might help even out the differences for employees of the same type. But I can also see potential downsides for permanent vs. contractors for instance. As a freelancer I might gain something by knowing the going rate of others with the same experience. But I am not sure that me publishing my hourly rate would benefit my relationship with the permanent employees of the place I am working.
