The world’s largest single-phase battery is now up and running
- theamk 4y agoIf you wondering what "single-phase battery" is, and how "phases" (which are associated with AC current) can be related related to batteries (which are always "DC") -- don't worry, it does not, it's just bad journalism. An earlier press release [0] explains it is "lithium iron phosphate-based technology battery system". And the "single phase" refers to the type of inverter attached to battery -- it's a single-phase inverter (such as the ones installed at residential homes) as opposed to three-phase ones (more common in industrial environment). I don't know why this is significant, but I am not an AC grid expert. So a more correct title is: The world's largest [power strorage station with] single-phase [inverter and LiFePo] batteries is now up and running.
