I used to work at a computer shop and one of the things we always offered and pushed quite strongly when customers brought a new computer was a free setup service. As part of that setup service we uninstall all of the junkware that new computers come with pre-installed and install some useful applications like Libre Office and Chrome.
The primary reason we did this was because if we didn't it was very likely customers would eventually bring the computer back and complain that it's running slow or that some software had stopped working (30-day office trial, etc).
It's kind of insane that companies ship computers with so much junk on them because it literally degrades their product for anyone who doesn't know how to service a computer. I always thought it would be easy win to just ship a computer without all the junk and just some useful freeware...
