I recall reading that the lack of documentation for the Saturn 5 was related to politics behind the space shuttle. The accusation was that NASA intentionally lost or destroyed the Saturn V docs so the space shuttle would be the only option.
- indymike 4y agoThis happens often in the military. For example, shredding the machines used to build the F-14 and F-22.
- HyperSane 4y agoI read that they actually carefully documented how to make the F-22 and also stored all the tooling. We could restart making them but it wouldn't be cost effective to do so.
