For those on work systems or in a work area with others, be advised that the link above is filled with racial slurs and hate speech. I think it's supposed to be a Twitter "free speech" alternative.
If you are worried about missing out, the TLDR version is that this is the Kiwi Farms/1776 Hosting stuff again. Evidence for the title claim is an unverified user post that talks about a Telegram message they received.
- airhangerf15 4y agoFrom what's already been posted on HN about Kiwifarms, I do think they proved their point that Cloudflare did lie and defame them. It'd be nice if we could get an official statement to post here, but their site is obviously offline. Poast is an ActivityPub instance; specifically a Pleroma server. This particular post is mirrored on all the other Mastodon, Pleroma and Misskey servers that federate with it. I used this post because there are literally no other news sites covering this. I tried using an archived version, but that post appeared to have been shadowbanned. It shows up for me, but not when looking at my profile in a private browser. This is a dangerous escalation when it comes to Internet censorship. Just today, we're learning that Google Drive is deleting copies of Kanye West's recent interview (https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRHTPD5p/ https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRHTPD5p/) from peoples' personal storage. > a Twitter "free speech" alternative. Why is free speech in quotes? Why is everyone in the tech community suddenly opposed to freedom of speech? When I was younger, at least the Americans would say, "I don't agree with you at all, but I do believe in your right to say it." There is literally no such thing as "hate speech" if you believe in "free speech." The two are mutually exclusive. You cannot support one while supporting censorship of the other. We're not on a slippery slope. We're in a free fall.
