Hi folks!
This is a good idea -- I think there was a liminal period where folks had some very valid discussions about basic things like "how much maximum amperage is too much for a charging standard", but I've seen so many folks who claim to be "green" who get all huffy and stop using their Carmen Sandiego voice when you point out their business has a practice that may increase revenue in the extreme short term at the expense of the environment.
Then again, Apple is the same company that went and completely redesigned their devices to both rely on rare earth minerals that are difficult to replenish or recycle, paired with a design that makes it impossible to separate these batteries from the rest of the device... for what reason? Thin-ness?
Maybe we should be designing zaftig devices, with a physical switch to turn off the wifi, the blue tooth, etc?
Oh wait, the open source community did that years ago at least once -- it was called... the Pinephone IIRC, but without Apple's economy of scale and network of physical stores for folks to browse and receive repairs, it's hard for a device with good technicals to compete.
(No citations, because these are my opinions -- I haven't read the rules in a while but honestly if people want to conflate upvotes with agreement, at this point I'm not offended, I just defer to sysadmins.)
