What a horror. We have an underclass citizenry subject to abuse or at best terribly life-changing work conditions, without the resources (personal, cultural, societal) to protect themselves or change position. It’s horrific.
It is a shared problem. Colombia is not so far away, neither geographically nor as a gig-heavy economic model.
We should be able to solve this – not from a “content moderation” perspective but from a human work conditions perspective. Counterintuitively, solving content moderation probably requires solving the human work conditions. If the workers were paid considerably better and well-supported, the costs might rise to the point of successfully incentivizing the ideal automated solutions.
