The free market always tends to fail if there’s a monopoly. A duopoly is apparently also a failure mode, here (regarding phones). But in the case of laptops, I’m not sure the market has failed. Apple is selling MacBooks like hotcakes. The Framework laptop is attacking at a different angle, and I have high hopes for System76 and friends. Yes, there’s loads of hot garbage, but there are really good alternatives.
