Last year alone, funding into autonomous vehicle companies exceeded $12bn, according to CB Insights. I had no idea so little had been invested. No wonder it's going slowly. (For something complicated like driving, something like five to ten percent of a year's world GDP - $5 trillion plus - would seem about right.)
