Be alert when reading the literature, because PCR tests don't prove infection. The PCR test amplifies genetic fragments.
Every medical treatment has risks which should be considered for each patient.
- smt88 4y ago> This study says "no effect on overall mortality". This would be convincing if mortality were the only measure that mattered, but it isn't. Covid can cause brain, lung, and heart problems that will haunt children for the rest of their lives. We already know that it can cause problems in those organs for months[1]. We also know that long after adults recover from Covid, their risk of all-cause mortality is increased[2]. If vaccines don't increase mortality, then preventing the illness is an extremely compelling reason to recommend it to all children. 1. https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/long-covid-in-kids https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/long-covid-in-kids 2. https://ufhealth.org/news/2022/uf-study-post-covid-mortality-risk-may-be-caused-effects-high-inflammation-during-illness https://ufhealth.org/news/2022/uf-study-post-covid-mortality...
- landemva 4y agoThe Reuters article quoted below says children rarely suffer severe outcomes from Covid. Why should a healthy child take the risk of this emergency authorization medical treatment when children are generally okay?
- smt88 4y agoBecause, as I mentioned in my reply, many children survive Covid and still have significant negative effects that lost long after the infection clears up. Immune system battles are extremely hard on the body.
- landemva 4y agoThe first link said "studies quantifying the number of cases of long COVID in kids have varied widely." That first link also did not seem to indicate if Covid was diagnosed with blood test or PCR fragment amplification or flu-like symptoms. The second link was for "people". There is a significant lack of rigor in the diagnosis and studies of covid in children, though overall mortality in children is low. For children in decent health, the emergency treatment does not seem warranted until the typical new drug side-effect studies have been completed. Until the long-term safety studies are in, there are safe alternative prophylactics but those don't make much profit nor yearly recurring booster profits.
