Stars, visits, downloads and maybe forks are what developers are interested in. And - strangely - the article seems to ignore them. "GitHub has gamification elements in the form of badges for projects." What, that stupid shark and cat icons? They're just embarrassing and I don't even remember what they mean. I found out I can turn them off and they were gone for good.
