- sigmoid10 4y agoMeh, it's just silicates aka quartz aka what sand is mostly made of aka one of the most abundant minerals in earth's crust. Yes, the molecule contains an element useful for semiconductors, but that's like mentioning sodium batteries in an article about the origins of soap just because both contain Na atoms.
