Climate activists throw mashed potatoes at Monet work in Germany
- Comevius 4y agoTomato soup before and now mashed potatoes. We almost have a full meal to scrape off from these paintings. Everyone is an art critic these days.
- sn0w_crash 4y agoHow these people are not being jailed for years++ is beyond me.

- stevenalowe 4y agoThis draws attention to the bizarre mental state of the ‘activist’ and does nothing to promote their cause. Which you might notice that we are not talking about. Who wants to be associated with vandals?
- jleyank 4y agoI am having trouble with the logic of these art protests. I can’t see how any action in a European museum will influence the behaviour of any of the oil producing nations. Protest the war in Ukraine. The treatment of disadvantaged or marginalized people. Wealth inequality. Trashing art is performance art, with minimal risk and reward. Not quite the man in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square.
- Comevius 4y agoI understand the logic, they are frustrated because we are sleepwalking into a catastrophe, and this is the best they can personally do to protest it in a civilized manner. It's not especially productive, but at least they are not just sitting on their asses like the rest of us do. These people are young, so they will be around to be raped to pieces in the thunderdome, it puts things in a different perspective for them. The millennials will likely be the last generation to have a chance to die alone in high-tech beds with anime playing in the background, the zoomers won't be able to avoid the cannibal holocaust.
- hanoz 4y agoThere's only so much runny foodstuff you can fling at glass-fronted paintings before people stop paying much attention. They say they're not afraid of the consequences but I'd like to see them try thier luck irreversibly destroying a national treasure in some major oil producing country not known for its sense humour about such matters.
- tetris11 4y agoMy weak take: Good. Make headlines, rattle people, especially those who covet art above all else and are wealthy enough to see art vandalism as an attack on their property
- sn0w_crash 4y agoThis is going to get exactly zero people on board with this cause. It will alienate many and will lead to harsh, exemplary punishments for this behavior.
