I think the wall could be Stockholm. Pleasant to live in is subjective, so it the Wall. But I do worry about 1) being a scam, someone is selling a daydream to the King; 2) the cost, the cost can grow out of control;
European cities are nice, but we know it is not possible for developing countries to repeat it, too expensive.
- piva00 4y agoIf Ukraine and Bulgaria can have very livable cities I don't think it's a stretch for developing countries to have them. It's much more expensive to keep resurfacing streets and roads over and over due to the immense amount of car traffic that an undeveloped public transportation system pushes to. What costs are you talking about? There's nothing too expensive about doing decent urban planning in line with the resources you currently have, it's much more a question of follow-through on long-term plans than absolute cost of implementation... The issue is much deeper and nuanced than cost, it's corruption, it's short-sighted politics due to populism and uneducated populations, etc.
- powerapple 4y agoDo you know the most important thing in developing world is electricity? Many people don't even have lights to keep the room bright once sunset. How expensive is expensive? I know people may only have meat once a year, is meat so expensive? Nothing is short signed, it is a decision over priority, and poor countries don't really have many options.
