I usually strongly oppose Big Tech's attempts of surveillance of private digital goods like cloud files, emails etc.
But context is important: here we're talking of the delirium of a man with serious mental health problems who spent half an hour ranting about Jews, black people and migrants, bringing back antisemitic conspiracy theories that hadn't been around since the times of the Nazis, and repeating that Jesus is the only path to salvation.
Why on earth would anybody be allowed to waste precious cloud storage and bandwidth to store and watch such disgusting trash?

- blacklight 4y agoA large fraction of the German population in the 1930s was also in favour of incarcerating people on the basis of their ethnicity, sexual orientation or political opinions. That doesn't mean that giving those people airing time was a good idea. Just because many people support something despicable, it doesn't mean that we should let them spread those ideas. Tolerant societies really ought to raise their immune defences against intolerant ideas if they want to survive.

- blacklight 4y agoPopper's paradox of tolerance (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance) is actually the only way to defend the functioning of a democratic society.
