Elections have always been about misinformation. This is why most people consider politicians liars. They speak out of both sides of their mouth, constantly and rarely fulfill their campaign promises.
Apparently misinformation "on an iphone" is some new evil of the world to justify mass censorship. It's the same lies the FCC used to transform the right of freedom of speech to freedom to listen to those the FCC grants license too. The problem is on the internet the FCC doesn't grant license. Now we need a new method to so only approved speakers are heard.
We can't dare trust the people with the power of democracy to sort out truth from falsehoods. It's really code for, those in power are seeing their power base erode so they must silence anything in opposition. It's not that there's misinformation in ads there always has been. Politicians spread misinformation everyday. It's that they have no effective silencing mechanism from who they consider outsiders. They don't like the moronic masses interrupting their "gentleman's game" of lying to keep control.
