Named arguments instantly makes every language an order of magnitude better. I wish PHP would lose it's $ and ;. I wonder if that's even possible at this stage of the langauge.
- muglug 4y ago$ allows the engine and humans alike to distinguish between constants and local variables. I don’t see PHP ever losing that character (and Hack, a derivative of PHP that has many many syntax changes, isn’t in any hurry either).
- habibur 4y agoI am planning to alter the PHP's parser so that $ is used for constants while variables are $ less. Simply flipping the use case will make it so much sane. Not getting the time.
- soheil 4y agoWhy would you do that, is it just for learning about the internals of the language or it bothers you so much that you decided to create your own version of the language?
- soheil 4y agoConstants are typically uppercase and easily distinguishable. Coincidentally most other languages don't use a special character to differentiate them either. $ adds unnecessary complexity, is ugly and an impediment to typing fast.
