The author is an economist and not a computer scientist, and it shows.
Bitcoin only makes 3 transactions per second and consumes around 12 GW continuously. One could setup an "old school" system of recording transactions to a database on a raspberry pi and easily process 100x as many transactions while consuming only 3 Watts.
I don't even feel like debunking the other 4 statements because the first is so egregious.
