From experience, I'd argue against this strategy. I have done this once and it resulted in quite problematic situation as I started to be perceived as somebody who looks for greaner grass... If you want to earn more and your current job does not pay that aftrer you ask for a rise, go somewhere where you will be paid what you want, don't play games..
