A 'Screenless Smartphone' Is Here—But What Does That Even Mean?
- superchroma 4y agoGot a linkby affiliate link to the product. Is this just an advertorial?
- ev1 4y ago> If you're unfamiliar with an eSim, it allows you to use cellular plans without requiring a physical nano-SIM. (A SIM stands for security information management, and traditionally collects, monitors, and analyzes security-related data.) What is this excuse of an "article" even? There is virtually nothing correct. It's a cost per click ad for whatever Mymanu is (utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=VICE+Media) and is serving me fake 404s on subsequent visits??
- _c5eq 4y agoObligatory proper definition for those who might require it, cause even I didn't know what the anagram SIM meant. > Subscriber Identity Module

- Manu40 4y agoWell, I can see a few problems with this product already. 1. It's not accessible to mutes or possibly even people with a disability involving speech while still being able to speak somewhat. Deaf people will definitely have an issue here. 2. Security issues much? How are we to trust this any more than any other smart device that is 'always listening'. Or are we now just giving up and saying fuck it? 3. Multiple ways for the device to fail, without much recourse in repair. Lovely. This is quite frankly, quite possibly, the worst idea for cellular technology I have ever seen yet. And as ev1 said, they don't even have the proper details on some of their supposed information about things like the eSIM. > Subscriber Identity Module NOT > Security Information Management
