I sit for a few hours on the couch next to my pup with my 16” MBP every day and it’s never been an issue. Granted she’s not cat- or ferret-like at least in this regard, our biggest daily disruptions usually involve her standing up with her front paws on the back of the couch and licking my head. Which I don’t think an iPad would address other than being convenient to snap some photos of the adorableness without a bigger reach.
