Chip and demo music is my only experience on the receiving end of cultural appropriation. When mainstream artists started using SidStations and arpeggios and blip blop in their music, there was definitely a part of me that felt Hey! That’s _our_ sound! But I’m glad the innovations and aesthetic of the scene are circulating, and not just to be found in archives. It makes me feel just a little less old to hear even just a little hint of this style on the radio.
