Bliki: Conway's Law
- pydry 4y agoI remember when Fowler first introduced the concept of microservices and said "these are great!" and then they suddenly became fashionable. The backlash inevitably ensued because as a default approach they are technically a bad idea. Teams that ran 10 microservices only created more headaches for themselves and soon the "monilith first" movement was born. As a way of aligning with Conway's law though, they really are good. You pay a technical cost but in exchange for that cost they allow looser coupling between subsytems managed by different teams that compensates for their lack of alignment. It's a technical solution to a human problem. One of few that actually works.
