Well, yes and no I guess.
Most of social media obviously glorifies van life and never talks about the dark sides and I guess a lot of people either make a lot of money from their social media accounts or have money anyway.
It's likely a completely different experience if you live in a $5,000 van that has not been converted or if you get a $100k one.
And, van life is certainly not for everyone. Just like living in a city is not for everyone and living a the 'burbs isn't either.
Still, content like this is valuable for the decision making if you want to jump into van life.
- carabiner 4y agoYeah she totally botched this. In her TikToks you see her empty cargo van with an air mattress on the floor. This is like the "I flew to Australia with $5 to see what would happen!" Homelessness happens.
- adastra22 4y agoThe only van dwellers I've met online are on r/financialindependence and they're working high-paying tech jobs while pocketing the extra cash instead of blowing it on rent, then retiring early after 8-10 years at a regular job. I didn't realize that wasn't the whole van-dwelling culture here.
