Story time. Many many moons ago, when I was in high school, I had a problem with people stealing my lunch. See, the band hall (I was in band) was right next to the cafeteria, unlike my (and everyone else's) locker. So it was common practice to leave our lunches in cubby holes in the band hall.
One day, I got my lunch only to find that the chips and the dessert (Oreos) had been stolen. When I got home that day, myself and a friend devised a plan. We carefully unscrewed several Oreos and removed the center portion of the filling, leaving a ring of filling around the outside. We replaced the removed filling with cayenne pepper and reassembled them. It was actually my friend who handled the cayenne pepper powder, and he mentioned that his fingers were tingling by the time we were done.
Then next day, I put my lunch in the same place, and I also put a microcassette recorder in an adjacent cubby, set to the slowest recording speed. Sure enough, they went for it again, and this time I got the reaction on tape. No idea who it was, I was just happy that it worked out so well ;) I do wonder if I still have that tape somewhere..
