GPS interference caused the FAA to reroute Texas air traffic. Experts stumped
- webdoodle 4y agoI was driving through Cle Elum, Washington and stopped to get gas. The station I stopped at was literally in the middle of no where between Snoqualmie and Ellensburg, but was very busy. When I went inside, the gas station attendant was talking to a group of people who claimed there GPS had routed them into the mountains, and that eventually they came to a sign that said "TURN AROUND YOUR GPS IS WRONG" (paraphrasing as I didn't see the sign).
- jiveturkey 4y agoThat's completely unrelated. "GPS" on that sign is shorthand for "navigation map data". Even in populated areas like bay area, there are instances of this all around.
- Arrath 4y agoYeah, an ongoing problem. For about a decade the street my parents live on was off-by-one, in that on google maps the name shown on their street was actually the name for the next lower street on the mountain, and so on for all the roads branching off of the 'main' road down to the county road. Same heading farther up the mountain, to the final road which was simply unnamed as if it was someone's driveway. It did eventually get fixed but it was a problem for a little while.
- rapjr9 4y agoSo the US government has no radio direction finders?
