I don’t like consolidation like this one bit, but assuming that the deal does fail, doesn’t that leave the PE firms owning an asset with no operating cash, while only having cashed out about 17% of the value? It seems unlikely that they would engineer this with the exception that it would fail, thus destroying their company.
