Great low effort dunk on an open source project. Go you
- halfjoking 4y agoYeah I was too negative. Vendor lock-in sucks so I'm glad someone is tackling it and I should have started with that. But I think people shouldn't hold back criticism either just because something is free or open source. Stability AI (Stable Diffusion) just sold out and took $100 million from investors after being open source. Even if they're providing something altruistically now you never know if that will change after VC, buyout offer, or some other event.
- ihattendorf 4y agoBut the open source code is still there, the community is always able to fork and continue development. True, that rarely happens, but does occasionally (e.g. Emby -> Jellyfin).
