I invest in myself by keeping my skills sharp working on personal projects and having a social circle that is made up of a wide range of people not just tech enthusiasts. I invest in myself by not making me only what I do for a living. Do I work just to get paid? Hell yes. If I didn't need money I'd only work on my personal projects.
