I know a electronics company in Europe and the US owners of a big customer requested production in China. The choice was between having a commission ( and starting it there) or lose the customer. After everything was running, all components broke within a year. The Chinese company secretely replaced an important electronic piece with a cheaper one. They now have all the customers business back. But probably within 3 years there's going to be a new board, who will try something similar ( again).
