The elephant in the room for me is that it’s only the existence of “product organizations” that create the problems described here. Product skills are a vital PART of a multi disciplinary team, but should not be separate or - heaven forbid but just the unfortunate reality - consider themselves in management over or otherwise in charge of any other part of the team. You want to make software? Fine, come be part of the team with me. We’ll work together and make great things happen. Don’t fool yourself that things will be better if you just tell me what to do.
