The Gen 1 pencil has a tiny battery and is a chore to charge. Mine is usually dead and I just write on paper. Not being able to charge it wirelessly from the iPad was a huge UX mistake that they quickly fixed with Gen 2. Can't believe they are still holding on to Gen 1.
