Kathleen Booth obituary: wrote one of the earliest books on programming
- labrador 4y agohttps://archive.ph/mCYo4 https://archive.ph/mCYo4 Kathleen Booth was credited with inventing and writing the first “assembly language”, which did away with the painstaking and time-consuming requirement to rewire cables and change switches whenever a computer needed to be reprogrammed. She was also one of the first women to publish a book on computer design, Programming for an Automatic Digital Calculator (1958), and later developed a program to simulate the ways animals recognise patterns.
