Why is NYC not more of a startup hub? I think it comes down to two things: I-banks and hedge funds pay too well for most programmers to consider leaving those jobs to go the startup route. And perhaps more importantly: there's not a strong tradition of successful founders who stay here as angel investors, unlike in Silicon Valley.
