Fly.io and Tailscale are two of my favorite companies. I think the future of selfhosting is Linux services running in microVMs on Windows and Android devices that people already have lying around. Fly.io is proving that the VM side is feasible. You also need something like Tailscale to tunnel through CGNAT et al. I work on open source projects that solve many of the same problems, but it's a chicken/egg problem, and Fly.io and Tailscale are building the infrastructure that will show people what's possible.
