If I understand correctly they are injecting the plants with the luciferasa? This would definitely not be a solution that you can sustain in any way for street use.
By the title I thought they had come up with a way for the plant to be able to produce the necessary chemicals to glow in the dark. If that was the case, this would have been huge.
- graderjs 4y agoIt should be possible to get the latter, as you can modify some proteins to make the cells produce that luminous compound. They do this in many insect models to get certain cells to produce these types of compounds for staining / visualizing / or just plain cool.
