How much trouble is Mark Zuckerberg in?

- user_named 4y agoWhy don't they just move into gaming? Games are the real metaverse.
- kwertyoowiyop 4y agoTheir metaverse is exactly a video game.

- user_named 4y agoExcept there nothing to do?
- thatguy0900 4y agoOne of the cool feature sof steam vr is a kind of home screen customizable house, from which you can launch into different video games. I would imagine zuck wants to be that, but kind of an open mass multi-player lobby for all vr stuff. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yn_xPWtS73A https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yn_xPWtS73A
- herbst 4y agoExactly. Same shit he did to Facebook with apps in the past. Suddenly everything should be a Facebook app, the API was nice, the docs ok'ish and the apps appeared to increase daily. Did anyone actually care about these when the farmville fud was over? What even happened to these 'deep' integrated apps?
- msh 4y agoThey don't want playstation style money. They are swinging for the big leagues of iphone money.
- boxmonster 4y agoThe Metaverse is a sexless, joyless world, much like Mark Zuckerberg himself. Sure, there's happy fun time, similar to the forced fun of office birthday parties if you're into that.
- haskellandchill 4y agozuck has thrown some lengendary parties in the bay area
- KerrAvon 4y agohave you seen the Facebook metaverse? it does not have legendary parties
- reducesuffering 4y agoI assure you, the parties that tech dad workaholics are throwing in the peninsula are far more gauche than "legendary" compared to the Project X like shenanigans across the city, town, and east bay. There's a reason the intro to the Silicon Valley series is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyYI957ge4c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyYI957ge4c For literally legendary Bay Area parties, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_Tests https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_Tests
- haskellandchill 4y agowell not ken kesey legendary and yes it's probably been a decade since the crazy times, his first kid was born in 2015 or so.

- labrador 4y agoI've worked in the tech industry in the Bay Area my whole life and never heard this, so not exactly legendary. Maybe they're orgies that people keep hush hush.
- drumhead 4y agoVR isn't going to catch on the way Facebook did unless there's a compelling reason. Games are the best way to create the buzz and demand, but the price of the tech has to be a lot cheaper. None of that is happening right now. Zuck may just have been a few generations to early.
- labrador 4y agoThe problem is the Metaverse isn't the metaverse, it's 3D games that teenage minors can play safely. Think Chuck E. Cheese for teenagers and the "young at heart" in surround vision.
- juunpp 4y ago"As Facebook fades, Meta hopes for success in another dimension." That must be why Carmack's avatar in his talk was jerking like he was high af on coke. Aaah, indeed, the other dimension... Wait, what is Zuck holding up with his fingers in that picture?
- sneak 4y agoMark Zuckerberg could spend the rest of his natural life running Facebook and Instagram and Oculus and WhatsApp into the ground and he and his family will never ever once be anywhere remotely near what any other human on Earth terms “trouble”. The success of Facebook, and the strategic acquisitions of IG and WA are sufficient for him to fail spectacularly for the rest of his days with no real impact. I regard all of this bumbling around with VR as his semi-retirement. He could never hit another home run and his grandchildren will still have yachts. Throw more stuff at the wall.
- richardatlarge 4y agoThere is the iPhone on the one hand and Google glasses and the Segway, on the other. VR may have a big future in gaming, but it’s no threat to real life.
- europeanguy 4y agoI would say that Zuckerberg's biggest problem is that a decent fraction of the world population at this stage has caught on to the fact that he's an immoral person who would happily subjugate humanity into a virtual world a la Matrix if that made him more ads dollars.
