Half the time my Teams calls with close colleagues are audio only, with screen sharing used often. Teams has completely replaced my old desk phone since WFH became permanent for me.
I notice even for those who went back to office, they use Teams a lot more than before pandemic. Come to think of it, perhaps we didn't have Teams before pandemic.
The etiquette is funny. If someone I rarely talk to from another department calls, such as HR or whatever, I will activate camera. You kind of feel it's polite to switch camera on for the people you don't know too well. In that situation, I highly doubt I would ever reach for a 3D avatar. It's your real face, or audio only. Those are the appropriate choices in Teams, and I can't think of why anyone would want to use an avatar in work/serious communication.
