CADQuery has completely replaced OpenSCAD for me. It's the best of both worlds - CAD as code like OpenSCAD, actual parametric CAD kernel like FreeCAD. Their GUI is not good/stable (yet), but the Jupyter notebook integration is great and absolutely killer.
