This pitting of one generation against another is silly. I'm old (late 70's) and I care about what everybody thinks, young or old. The various crises and problems we face affect everybody, and we all need to work together as best we can to help solve them. Certainly there are some people who are selfish and exclusive, and like to discriminate against one group or another, whether based on age, class, sex, race, nationality, or whatever. Those people are idiots. If the human race destroys itself, it will be because of tribalism.
