Why haven’t we invented forever-puppies yet?
- downrightmike 4y agoNon-ending life is terrifying. Imagine getting injured and that's how you'll be forever, now imagine not understanding that and being in pain forever.
- angelbar 4y agoThere is always the fire option... or nuclear
- ALittleLight 4y agoGenerally people aren't looking for immortality in the "evil magic curse" sense. They want immortality in the sense of being able to preserve your body and your mind in your prime indefinitely. A magic curse where you suffer forever is bad, but being healthy is good.
- downrightmike 4y agoLife is suffering.
- me_smith 4y agoReminds me of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.
- bergenty 4y agoCompletely disagree. Would rather be limbless and alive than dead. Constant pain? Constantly take opiates.
- downrightmike 4y agoThen the opiates stop working so you take so much that you'd wish you were dead, because the pain doesn't go away no matter what.
- raydiatian 4y agoNon-ending life (as you describe it) is terrifying. But non-ending life (in other more positive conceptions) is the literal basis of religions.
- downrightmike 4y agoName a religion that doesn't actively oppress and break people and isn't also built on a long history of exploitation.
- etiam 4y agoSimilar reasons we're still waiting for weeks with only Sundays in them?
- tsol 4y agoIt's not possible. Also that would be really sad for the puppy that has to outlive everyone it ever meets.
- dr_dshiv 4y agoWhy do you think it isn’t possible? Let’s say they stayed puppies for 5 years. That’s at least as long as humans stay kids. Life span and childhood won’t be simply controlled, but why in principle couldn’t a puppy stay a puppy for a few years? Failure of ambition if you ask me, jeez
