His thoughts on ukraine mirror French sentiment right now
I have a feeling for a rich and powerful guy he has his finger on the non elite pulse.
A draft in the west would be a suicidal move. People would outright rebel. The truth is outside politics and virtue signaling, no average person wants to fight and die for Ukraine.
- jleyank 4y agoI suspect the Poles and all other countries that (a) used to be part of Tsarist Russia or (b) used to be part of the USSR might feel differently about fighting for Ukraine or against Russia. This is survival, not discussions re: bullies.
- norwalkbear 4y agoSure self-interest trump's all. That's goes with my point. France will not die for Ukraine.
- kmos17 4y agoFrench sentiment will also include a very deep seated national memory of what happened the last time we let a dictator go unchecked in his expansionist madness.
