I worked at a Kroger (grocery store chain) for 7 years, and each time they brought in consultants to modify workflows they made our lives (stockers and baggers) worse, with no measurable improvement in efficiency. Needless to say, I am not a fan of consultants. Only time you should use them is when you’re doing something you have zero competency in. A grocery store should not be using them to design their stocking workflows.
