Luke 18:25. I could go on, but it was a religion of the downtrodden and dispossessed, standing in opposition to the establishment (both secular and religious). It embraced those marginalized from society, and treated both high and low status equally (if not the reverse of everyday society). As a philosophical system, it's been turned on its head. Which will not bode well for its supposed adherents when it's time to pay the piper.
