If I were a native Chinese planning to stay for life, I would support the poison pill. Falling prey to China would be the worst catastrophe, preventing it must take precedence. According to this article, TSMC factories wouldn't be able to continue producing, so why not destroy them anyways? It is not like China is looking at the foundries as the sole reason for invading Taiwan, but for sure they are important.
