I often think Art in general suffers from a lack of limitations now as well. Artists working with oil paints during the renaissance had teams of people to produce their often secret recipes for pigments or to fill in less prominent areas of works on behalf of their master.
Now anyone can buy chemical based paints of any colour imaginable with ease or cheap, mass produced and pre-prepared canvases. If the materials themselves are no longer precious it's easier to not take the same degree of care on painting.
- foobarian 4y agoSo what you are saying is... there still are teams of people producing paints with, for all intents and purposes, secret recipes, except now they don't help you paint the tedious parts. So arguably it should be harder to paint :-) A lot more people have the opportunity to do it, though. You don't need to be a pauper living on your brother's dime, and in fact there are materials of unimaginable quality available for a few dollars on the low end.
