i don’t want most of my software to auto update but i certainly want the browser, which ingests untrusted data from unknown sources constantly, to get bug fix updates automatically.
- lupire 4y agoThat's your choice. Some other people only visit trusted sites.
- seba_dos1 4y agoThose people can choose to disable automatic updates.
- kikokikokiko 4y agoNot in Firefox on Ubuntu, there is no option under settings to disable it, that's the problem.
- seba_dos1 4y agoFirefox on Ubuntu (on most distros, in fact) doesn't update itself automatically at all, which is why there's no option to disable it. It's apt (or snap?) that updates it.
- fsckboy 4y agoI like getting a notification from the browser that there's a newer version so to give me a sense how long I'm waiting to get the distro's updated package. I don't use Ubuntu though so I'm not sure if that's in there or not.
