Dubai has its issues with using cheap labor from low-income countries. But I wouldn't go as far as saying "antithesis of what it means to be a good human being". The walkability and public transit point are not as good as in most European cities. But some areas, such as Dubai Marina and Downtown, are not far off. If we compare it to the US, it is much better. Considering that you can't go anywhere without a car in most US cities. Public transit is actually pretty good. Metro is surprisingly cheap, fast, clean and safe. At the same time, the taxi system is very straightforward, standardized and reasonably priced.
